La mammografia è un esame del seno effettuato tramite una dose piuttosto bassa di raggi X. Lo si utilizza in genere per diagnosticare tumori e cisti.
Questo tipo di esame è consigliato per tutte le donne in quanto è stato provato che la mortalità per tumore al seno si riduce per chi si sottopone all'esame periodicamente. È consigliabile effettuare una mammografia ogni anno per le donne che presentano fattori di rischio, per esempio hanno avuto un tumore al seno pregresso o hanno avuto familiarità con esso. Per le donne che non presentano alcun fattore di rischio è consigliabile effettuare l'esame almeno una volta ogni due anni.
Il macchinario della Metaltronica installato presso la nostra struttura è il modello Fiat/Se. Si tratta di un mammografico tecnologicamente avanzato ed estremamente affidabile, adatto a programmi di screening mammografico.
